Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Mar 16, 2009 10:52 am Morning All,
Okay, we're up to our next stage in our house and looking for a company to manage the design and construction of our landscrape for our front yard and back yard. Quite frankly I would love to get my hands dirty and do it myself but work committments just do not allow me the time to do this so we've decided to employee someone that has the know how... Looking for a company in the western suburbs or who would travel out that way to work with. Done some research on Google though I would prefer recommendations... Our location is Cairnlea VIC... Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks All... Re: Landscape Designer/Architect - Western Suburbs Melbourne 3Mar 16, 2009 4:17 pm cooool!!!!
thanks for the link chuman! Re: Landscape Designer/Architect - Western Suburbs Melbourne 4Mar 16, 2009 7:01 pm Fu Manchu http://www.liav.com.au/find-a-landscaper.html Hi Fu We are also looking at getting a landscaper to design / construct our backyard. Quick one, we got recommended a landscaper by a friend and we have seen the work which is not too bad but he is not a liav member. What are the pro's and con's of not using a liav member ? Also, do they tend to be more expensive ? Cheers Re: Landscape Designer/Architect - Western Suburbs Melbourne 5Mar 16, 2009 7:52 pm Well in each state there are hassles with landscapers and anyone calling them selves that who do *** jobs, low quality jobs, or use bad plant selection for the sake of a quick buck.
Now there are loads of good landscapers out there who are not members of your states landscape association, however someone who is shows that they care about the reputation of the landscape industry. They are the ones who continue education and new skills, they also promote and set standards for landscaping. When starting to find a landscaper, your states landscape association should always be the first place of contact. you won't get stung. Some do cost more but I have heard so many stories of people being fleeced by bad landscapers or poorly skilled landscapers, it is not accurate to say an association member will cost more. They are an investment. What you get is a job well done and if it isn't then you have an association to make sure it is done right if they are a member Here's how West Aussies can make sand into soil Checkout The Forever Project Before starting your landscape attend a FREE Great Gardens workshop Re: Landscape Designer/Architect - Western Suburbs Melbourne 6Mar 16, 2009 10:28 pm I'd love to hear of any recommendations for our west of melb too...

They are located in hoppers Crossing. What we had done was fairly basic, but they did a good job. Our cost was about $8000. Not cheap though.

Met him last night, came prepared with all these photos, ideas, native garden book and plans he had sketched. He seemed to be so switched on and enthusiastic. A nice young guy and I asked if he was looking for any work and he said yes. so....I will wait to see what he does with our garden before I pass details of his contact number on the forum. btw...I am doing a flowering native garden with plants that will attract birds. The front will be like a rock garden with wattles, native grasses and other plants (already forgotton ) Mrs B Re: Landscape Designer/Architect - Western Suburbs Melbourne 10Mar 20, 2009 10:03 am Mrs B the garden ideas sound beautiful. The garden is one area I know nothing about. My eyes started to glaze over a bit when he started talking about what he would like to do. I just wanted to say 'Do anything you want, just make sure it looks pretty and it attracts the native birds' Mrs B Re: Landscape Designer/Architect - Western Suburbs Melbourne 12Mar 20, 2009 12:34 pm Mrs B Thankyou Donuts The garden is one area I know nothing about. Tell him that if he do a good job at your garden, he might be refusing work very shortly when all of us in the west start calling him. Can we all do a bulk purchase and get a discount from the landscaper if he is good ????
