They may have been tagged incorrectly by the grower before the nursery bought them. Re: Vegie gardens 84Apr 21, 2009 2:43 pm get a little bit of sulphate of potash on them, get them into the sun more if they are in pots, and seasol, powerfeed every weekend they'll ripen Re: Vegie gardens 86Apr 21, 2009 11:06 pm Fu Manchu get a little bit of sulphate of potash on them, get them into the sun more if they are in pots, and seasol, powerfeed every weekend they'll ripen I must say, I am using seasol once a week on them and my strawberries 'A bottle of wine contains more philosophy than all the books in the world.' It is loaded with potassium which for the most part gets plants flowering and fruiting well or get the other half to expose themselves infront of the tomatos and they will blush and turn red Re: 88Apr 22, 2009 10:55 am Fu Manchu One thing I just can't get my head around doing is how much you folks over east use timber for garden edges, raised beds, retaining walls, what ever. Jeeze we hardly ever see that done here in the west. Anything timber is just munched up by white ants before your eyes It seems madness to encourage them to your property with a free lunch Exactly my thoughts. I lived in NZ most of my life and I came back here recently to live. My friend in Sydney built a garden and I was surprised that he had built these wooden walls to hold it. Most of the vege gardens I have seen have only just been level with the ground. But it does seem to make it look tidier and might help some with bad backs. I have just been reading a great organic gardening book I picked up at the local library as I'm about to setup an organic vege garden and composting system. In this book it says that if you have a sandy soil which is what I have then you do not need to raise it off the ground and if you do then 10cm is enough. But if you have an alkaline soil then it is better to raise it up. enjoy your life!
