i have selected out some plants for a western facing garden the garden is 2 x 700mm high rendered brick raised garden beds with premium organic soil, 150mm base layer of crushed concrete and a thick layer of sugar cane mulch that i am sick of sweeping up all the loose bits that blow everywhere. i am about the shell out about a grand on the plants that i have selected through some fairly rigorous research but am a bit concerned that some may fold when in the direct western sun even though they are regarded as full sun species. the list is as follows Pandanus pedunculatus cordyline negra dianella caerulea and brevipedunculata aechmea blanchetiana zoysia tenuifolia i was thinking of maybe waiting until winter to plant these to ease them in a bit but was wondering if anyone has had any experience with any of these in a full western sun situation of has any knowledge of their ability to handle such conditions. one of the beds gets some shade from a larger tree and they both dont get the sun until around 10-1030am cheers dinga Re: garden in the western sun 2Feb 09, 2009 12:09 pm I don't think the cordylines would be the best choice Hi all, We are looking to build a new two storey house in western Sydney.
