Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Feb 06, 2009 12:06 pm I want to get some pipes under the concrete for running water and electric cables as the mains tap and waterproof power point are on the other side of the concrete driveway. Any suggestions on where to get them from and how to lay them? Our Entertainer - http://ausdreamhome.blogspot.com/ Re: Which pipes to use under concrete driveway? 2Feb 06, 2009 3:45 pm a few options.
you can just use a length of storm water pipe to run the future stuff through. While doing it string some cable through ready to pull any future wires through. Or you can get the electrical conduit down 600mm deep with the cable already threaded through with ample left at each end for the electrician to connect up. Irrigation and water really need to be class 12 or even 18. Class 9 tends to have pipe walls that are too thin and can squash or break over time. (I've seen it to many times to say, "she'll be right") run extras in their too. You never know what you may wish to do in the future. try putting every thing 600mm deep just as a precaution. Then all utilities are uniform depth and location. LATEST: Frame Complete http://metricon-mercer.livejournal.com Re: Which pipes to use under concrete driveway? 5Feb 07, 2009 6:39 pm 90mm is pretty handy but even if you use it for feeding irrigation pipe through later make sure you still use class 12 or 18.
If 90mm storm pipe is used make sure it is at least 300mm deep. more is better and 600mm is ideal Re: Which pipes to use under concrete driveway? 6Feb 09, 2009 9:20 am Thanks everyone. You are awesome.
I will take a copy of this post and goto Bunnings before laying the concrete. Would I need similar pipes for running electrical cables underground for a water feature I am planning near the back wall of the backyard... There would be no concrete over it so how much depth would I need and what kind of pipe to use? Our Entertainer - http://ausdreamhome.blogspot.com/ Re: Which pipes to use under concrete driveway? 7Feb 09, 2009 3:09 pm For electrical it must be 600mm deep which it why I suggest running irrigation at that depth too. irrigation can be much shallower but make sure you increase the class of pipe as you get closer to the concrete. Just for uniformity sake. For electrical use the orange conduit. You may even be able to buy the tape that you lay 100mm above the conduit so if you are ever digging there, you hit the tape first as a warning of electricity just under. 4 4008 As most others have posted above the install isn't compliant. The pipe is meant to be covered in loose soil or sand, the pipe has holes in it that leaks out a termicide… 10 4661 |
