We've just moved into our new home - house/land package with landscaping "complete" (pretty lame effort)
Anyway, at the rear of the property is a treated pine retaining wall 800mm high and 18mtrs long. It looks very well built and is doing its job fine.
However, we would like the rendered brick look so we have decided to have one built in front of the existing wall.
I was deciding wether or not to DIY or have someone do it so I arranged a quote today - $2100 with footings and built from besser blocks, this does not include rendering or core fill. It was to be an extra $800-1000 for core fill and $1000 to render.
So we've decided to have a crack at it ourselves - we can get the blocks for $486 delivered (180 blocks). Is there any advantage to using besser block over normal bricks? Other than quicker to lay? If we use normal bricks we wont have to core fill, saving us a few more $$$.
Any opinions?
