when it is cooler the best thing you can possible use is Seasol. (not some other brand of seaweed product either.) check out my posts in the Magnolia thread. It is different plants mentioned of course but over all the same principals and techniques for ensuring the live. Lawn or not it will enjoy organic input after this heat. oh and folks, DON"T FERTILISE YOUR GARDEN NOW OR AFTER THIS HEAT! Use organic fertilisers like the Munns ones as well as organic material of anysort, blood and bone, molasses, seasol (and loads of it!), powerfeed and heavy mulching with green mulches (not trendy pebbles or black mulches) Re: Burnt Grass and Lilly Pillies 4Jan 30, 2009 3:59 pm Generally I do not fertilize in summer, the last dose of food my garden gets is late November, early december the latest. I start again in late March, this is when we in the west get heat waves and there is no point forcing the plants to grow when really they should be slowing down. The only two plants that still get scorched are a "teenage" (sweet 16) plane tree and my 2 year old avocado, the rest are fine, even the grass survives, it goes yellow but later with rain it gets green. However, I do water it with seasol, usually once a month, I should do it twice but ...
