Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 16, 2009 3:19 pm Hi Guys went to Botanix (a nursery and garden design centre) at wellington point in brisbane today with husband and was quite disappointed it was nothing like the gardening magazine made it out to be. However on the way to the carpark we walked past this plant in the full sun which we really liked.
Its got green foliage much like agapanthus but alot more foliage and higher, and they have big white star flowers on the stork bits. I did take a photo but i cant seem to get it from my mobile phone to the computer will have to get my husband to try. I have searched google for them with no like I am obviously typing in the wrong thing. If anyone has any ideas what it might be from my description please let me know until I can get a photo of them up. You would think in a garden centre that they would have signs with labels of the plants, or at the very least someone we could have spoke to - but there was no one around to help us out in the actual design centre. Re: Do you know what plant this is? 5Jan 17, 2009 10:15 pm Mel there are quite a few plants known as "spider lily" as a common name. Ironically i have just got off the phone having discussed the very topic of many common names for one botanical name
It is what I know as a Spider Lily but that name commonly belongs to around 4 or 5 other plants. Most would call the Crinum a spider lily. Crinum is also a common name for it and its botanical name Re: Do you know what plant this is? 6Jan 17, 2009 10:59 pm Thanks Fu
My mum gave me some lillies out of her garden a few years ago when i was living up north. They look similar to that but had long thin dark leaves from memory. They were great. Survived in my garden they multiplied heaps as well. gorgeous looking Re: Do you know what plant this is? 7Jan 17, 2009 11:10 pm they can get a bit of dark bluey purple through the leaves sometimes.
