and delivery to Berwick? Looking for a tall fescue blend perhaps? Originally looked at Empire Zoysia but i have more people telling not to get it as it does not recover well and is dormant for too long in melb due to the cold. Something nice and green all year round and drought tolerant. But cant stand buffalo and kikuyu...any suggestions? Re: Turf and Plants at very good prices 8Jan 12, 2009 7:40 pm Hi
Can order most types of turf depending on what your after. Empire Zoysia is very hard to get in Victoria. Do you have water available? If so you can go a Tall Fescue but will struggle in the heat if you dont. I prefer Santa Ana couch which is a summer grass but does go dormant in winter, which might be a problem for you. Sunlover is also a good grass which may suit your needs. Delivery to Berwick is no problem can usually have it within a few days, how many sqm are you looking at? Re: Turf and Plants at very good prices 9Jan 13, 2009 10:23 pm If a grass goes dormant what does this mean? Does it just go back to dirt in winter (which would then turn to mud)?
mark_23 do you have pics of this Sunlover grass, it sounds like it might suit us too (have similar needs to Phoenix and also in Melbourne). Is it soft underfoot? thanks in advance oh by the way we would need about 150m2. Re: Turf and Plants at very good prices 10Jan 13, 2009 10:36 pm Hey, 60m2 for us and funnily enough i looked at the Sunlover variety on the HG website last night.
Donuts heres a link to the HG turf website. http://www.hgturf.com.au/inl_hgturf.html The Sunlover is second from the bottom Dormant means it wont grow or maybe grow very slowly, during particular months and will usually die back and go straw brown in colour. Mark feel free to PM me pricing if you dont want to post it on the thread. Thanks! Re: Turf and Plants at very good prices 12Jan 14, 2009 1:44 pm donuts If a grass goes dormant what does this mean? It basically means it grows very little and you wont have to maintain it for the cooler months, saying that you still may get winter grass which will pop up which may still need mowing Re: Turf and Plants at very good prices 14Jan 14, 2009 5:33 pm Currently looking for some turf for 80% shaded area, and also 80% sun... What would you recommend... Looking for approx 40m2...
Then when we build on our 5 acres, we'll be looking for natives of allkinds, and turf or seed.. Electrical Engineer... Don't hold that against me... And keen owner builder... Mainly the building part!! Re: Turf and Plants at very good prices 15Jan 14, 2009 9:16 pm Thanks for that link Phoenix, very informative!
mark_23 It basically means it grows very little and you wont have to maintain it for the cooler months, saying that you still may get winter grass which will pop up which may still need mowing So that doesn't sound too bad to me - no mowing in winter? But if Melb weather means it stays dormant too long then maybe it is not for us. Mark could you give me a quote for the Sunlover grass? thanks Hi - thanks for your reply. Yes I think 'Ill go for whitish with very speckly bits rather than pure white something like this. PS was actually 2008 I built the… 2 11632 Tradie may sit at home but will need to get house plastered as well or will you sit it out? 6 9912 Murraya could be a great option for you. It creates a great tall screening hedge but doesn't drop fruit like lily pilly. The flowers smell divine. 2 10191 |
