Thank for the advice. I have tried it. Got 2 approx. quotes. The first quote is doubled than the second one. mikkyG Try putting a request up on www.servicecenteral.com.au Re: Backyard leveling 8Dec 09, 2008 1:06 pm One bloke quoted:
$280 - bobcat and labor. $700 - 25 cubic meters of screened fill soil to make the backyard as flat as possible (this is optional). There is a fall of approx 300-400 mm from the house to the end of the backyard and a little bit from one side to another. Now I have more questions. 1) Is it better to put the fill and make the backyard as level as possible however to avoid building a retaining walls at the back and sides of the backyard? 2) Or maybe it is more cost efficient just to flatten the backyard with existing soil, however there will be a slope running from house to the end of the backyard. 3) If I choose to put fill, is it better to wait until fence is up? I mean to deliver the fill now, then wait until the fence is up and then flatten the backyard. borg How much have you been quoted?? Between 250-300 would be reasonable, as they have usually charge 4 hour min. Do you expect them to remove any thing?? ie rock and dirt. As that is extra, Re: Backyard leveling 9Dec 09, 2008 2:49 pm I having some trouble imagining what you are trying to do. Because i would want to know if you plan to put concrete etc around house. ALso do you have neigbours or are you on a corner.
One thing i notice which people do wrong is they place fill around house then get some one to install fence. The fence guy is lucky to go down 600mm then a windy day comes along and blows the fence out. Make sure what ever you do that the fence post is put into natural ground. If you have to Get the fence guy to install longer fence post and have the palings raised off the ground. then fill after woods. I would also recommend painting around posts where the soil touches with oil paint or some water proofer to give me a few more years of life before it rotts. Re: Backyard leveling 10Dec 11, 2008 10:49 pm there should be plenty in local newspaper, our backyad was done 3 months ago 6m wide by 6m long and about 2m depth down total cost $1800. This include bobcat hire, labour and taking soil to the tip. They will charge you for each trip to the tip. New tiler here cos I'm broke. Anyway, I've been looking online for tile leveling systems. I've seen these a lot. (See pics) The only thing I can see wrong is the wrench… 0 4674 I think I know the answer but just checking to see if anyone has had experience with it.
