Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Dec 01, 2008 10:06 pm Taking a walk around the house on the weekend I found some hardy darlings who have survived demolition of the old house and having a new house built on top of them.
I figured if they can survive that, they might just be able to survive my well-intentioned, but very beginner and sometimes clumsy gardening attempts... A rose is growing on the north boundary fenceline; I would like to transplant to the front garden, which gets full afternoon sun, I hope the rose will withstand this ok? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This one looks like a kind of berry? It has been completely hidden behind a discarded bit of fence paling for a few weeks but seems to be hanging in there. Or is it a weed? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ This one has tiny flowers but I am suspicious that it is a weed. Am I right? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ And lastly, a lovely little fern has popped up on the south and narrow side of the house. Not much sun here. Can I put it somewhere else, and if so where would be best for it? Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Thanks all for any advice! Re: Plants I found at the house...sad update 4Dec 01, 2008 10:15 pm About the weed.... I helped Mum in the garden once.... I pulled out all her flowers and left the weeds.... I didn't know the difference.
The weeds were really, really pretty... and the flowers were really, really ugly.... I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I picked it for my MIL once when she wanted parsley ...she took great delight in pointing out my mistake ...hope it's not poisonous 'chelle We have a hand-over date...15/10...but I won't hold my breath! http://people-in-glass-houses.blogspot.com/ Re: Plants I found at the house...sad update 14Dec 01, 2008 10:29 pm I think from neglect it will need some fertiliser.
But because it is in such a bad state I would give it some Seasole to start with. Just to get the roots going. The soil looks pretty good, so it probably just needs a good feed. It looks like a rambling rose or a climber….feed it first and see how it goes. Put the Seasole on the other rose as well, its great stuff, make the hair on your arm grow! I had a struggling lime tree, I put some on and now it has a heap of flowers, it’s a must for any gardener to have! It creates a great tall screening hedge but doesn't drop fruit like lily pilly. The flowers smell divine. 2 7962 Hi, This is my first post.
