Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Nov 30, 2008 3:34 pm Here's the first draft of my landscape plan.
I'm aiming for a mostly native garden with a touch of purple and white and some grey/green foliage to highlight the white and grey house exterior. I still have to check on plant heights and ideal positions, so the actual plant selection is still evolving. I think I'm finally happy with the layout though. All feedback welcomed. After 4 years - we're in! Re: My landscape plan 3Nov 30, 2008 9:15 pm Hmmm, I did wonder about that. There's nice sun in that area, but with a fence, I don't know. The only other alternative, which gets full sun, would be where the pool pump is proposed. Not so much room there. The front yard is out, and the back yard is for the kids. Guess we'll try it and see how it goes. Thanks for pointing that out. I think a nicely designed veggie garden with a number of raised beds and nice paths in between would be great in front of your pool pump/bin area. You could use most of that area then have a row of shrubs/hedging plant along the fence with a nice bench seat in front. If you wanted to go really formal - I've seen veggie beds done in parterre this is the Diggers Garden in Vic Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ After 4 years - we're in! Re: My landscape plan 6Dec 01, 2008 8:45 am Wow, I love that look. What a great suggestion.
It would really challenge me to keep it looking that good. What about all the things that need trellises, or that just like to run a bit wild and have their space? Will definitely think about whether I could make more use of the central area. If you want purple look at using some alternathera purpura and agonis after dark as small trees. Caprosma Karo red too as a small shrub. Have a think about growing your veggies all through the garden, no reason why you can't and it will ensure your garden is healthy and more useful. we do and it enhances the look of the garden. basil, lettuces, bright rainbow chard silverbeet will really look good and taste good. great design you have done. The veggies will do well there in summer but not so well in winter. However I try to grow my veggies in the shade a bit here. I was glad to learn the other week that this is the way to go. Perth and SW veggie growers grow many crops under 30% shade to avoid sun damage, conserve water and reduce pests. will the acacias grow well with the dendrobiums?
