The plan we are submitting to council won't be exactly the same as the final product. We'll be adding a garden shed, veggie beds and espaliered fruit trees - but apparently it's best to keep it simple when you go to Council. I think it looks professional enough to go in with our DA. Re: Our landscape plan! 2Nov 29, 2008 3:42 pm That is going to look fantastic
I like the choice for the lepto cardwell They look amazing when they get older. Re: Our landscape plan! 3Nov 29, 2008 4:05 pm Thanks Fu!
We had/still have no idea about plants - Mark Ferrington was invaluable for that. He used to run western Sydney's biggest native nursery until they closed a few months ago (the owner of the land didn't want to renew the lease). He bought a huge book along with plenty of pics so we could see his thoughts. His thought process was quite amazing - I picked a feature tree out the back (eucalypt - we back on to the bush and I saw one in the bushland I liked) and then he closed his eyes talking about different plants - we could see him imagining them - saying a name, then discarding it for one reason or another until he thought of the right plant. After 4 years - we're in! Re: Our landscape plan! 4Nov 29, 2008 4:47 pm He must be the plant whisperer! He was asking the trees out the back who they would like as new friends :p
The plan looks great! Will be nice to have such a huge back yard. Hey Stonecutter, That landscaping looks amazing, the front yard looks like it will really make your home inviting. Are you using the landscaping voucher for the front? Or are you using the voucher to supply the plants only? Just curious if they are allowing the use of the voucher for supply only. Nav Re: Our landscape plan! 6Nov 30, 2008 7:34 am Hi Nav
The brochure/flyer is unclear about the voucher - the developer doesn't have a specific landscape company in mind that you can go to (e.g. you have to go to Flower Power or some other company) I was told that you can get your landscaper to apply for the voucher. I'm hoping that we'll just be able to either A) Pay for the landscaping ourselves and then claim a rebate by providing the developer with receipts B) Get our landscaper to claim the rebate C) Give their landscaper our plans and get them to do it After 4 years - we're in! Re: Our landscape plan! 8Nov 30, 2008 8:09 am Hi Sharee
Yes - permanent screen - the estate rules say that no clothes drying area, garden sheds etc should be seen from the golf course. So we have to screen it off. The washing line will actually be bolted to the screen (not the fence as in the pic) - it will be one of those large rectangular folding lines After 4 years - we're in! Re: Our landscape plan! 9Nov 30, 2008 4:45 pm Hi Stonecutter
Thanks for posting your plan. It inspired me to improve on mine. Nice to see what you've chosen to go where. I like the no-lawn approach at the front. That's one enormous back yard you have there. Out of curiosity, what program did you use? Visit my blog: http://www.jeanetez.blogspot.com/ Re: Our landscape plan! 10Nov 30, 2008 8:10 pm hi jeanette!
I captured an image of our plan - then pasted it into Powerpoint. Then simply added different shapes in powerpoint to create the plan. I got the idea of using Powerpoint from another plan I saw here on Homeone After 4 years - we're in! Re: Our landscape plan! 11Nov 30, 2008 9:09 pm OK, thought so. I'm not very familiar with Powerpoint so I scanned my plan, made some changes with a photo editing program's lassoo tool, then added some clipart, lines and text in Publisher. I don't know if that's a more laborious way to do it.
Where do you find the different textures in Powerpoint? Visit my blog: http://www.jeanetez.blogspot.com/ Re: Our landscape plan! 12Dec 01, 2008 7:48 am I made each shape - then i went to it's Properties - under the Fill colour - you can select different textures or patterns. Should I excavate and cut all of the dirt to level with the house slab or semi-excavate as per photo above? Both left and right… 0 24872 Thanks very much! And would the landscaper/contractor generally involve the engineer or is that something the client would do? Thanks for your help 2 10034 |
