Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Nov 20, 2008 10:43 pm We moved into our house back in April and are finally getting around to doing the back yard.
The yard is quite small, only 10 meters by about 5. It is currently half paved (very ******* job) and half dirt. My plan is to rip up the ******* paving and replace it with something that is safe for my kids to ride their bikes on, but also ok for my dogs. I dont want to concrete it, so my options seem to be either paving, or some form of topping. I quite like the look of Granetic sand/gravel, but im unsure as to if this can be compacted well enough to cope with dogs and children running around on it? Has anyone had any experience with using things such as granetic, or even lilydale topping as an alternative to paving or concreting? Re: Granetic Sand?? Other ideas? 2Nov 28, 2008 10:45 pm Hi Jess,
We have granetic sand down at the moment in a section at the side of our house, we had hoped that it would compact down enough and also put pavers down, unfortunately we have found with the area that it is in, that when it rains it kind of becomes soggy and if you stand on it or anything, it kind of sinks down in the spot where you've stood so we can't walk on it. I was very disappointed that it didn't compact down as I thought that it would have........but hey....you might have better luck with it!!!! We are now considering covering it up with tuscan screening to give the space a different look.........but it was worth a try!!!!
