Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design Re: Killing the weeds 2Dec 15, 2004 7:09 pm IF YOU STEP OVER TO YOUR LOCAL NURSERY THERE ARE MANY PRODUCTS IN RANGE THAT WILL KILL THE WEEDS. IF YOU'RE WORRIED ABOUT THE SURROUNDING PLANTS ZERO HAS A PRODUCT THAT'S ATTACHED TO A STICK. I THINK IT'S CALLED A WEED WAND. WITH THIS PRODUCT YOU CAN BRUSH THE WEEDS INDIVIDUALLY.
FOR YOUR VINES AND BIGGER PLANTS THERE IS A PRODUCT CALLED BLUEBERRY POISON - i THINK. THIS APPLICATION IS SPECIFIC TO THE LARGER PLANTS ONLY. EGGENZ 2004 Defolient 4Nov 16, 2005 11:29 am I'm not saying don't use a weed killer, but as Steve says, that stuff will kill you! Ze*o, *oundup, *oger et cetera have all been strongly connected to the name AGENT ORANGE in the past. For anyone not familiar with this little wonder it was used extensively to destroy covering foliage during the Vietnam conflict. Many Australian, American and allied servicemen were heavily exposed to this chemical, as the preferred method of delivery was aerial bombardment. Quite a few of them now have some even bigger problems in their lives.
It is a hard core defolient which is systemic to humans if it comes in contact of any sort. This poison has been connected to a number of serious diseases, genetic disorders and congenital birth defects. I myself have a condition which can only be attributed to my father's unprotected exposure while using these same chemicals before I was born. I have met quite a few others who share my disorder and have all beeen exposed to defolients and pesticides as part of their daily lives. One is a florist and another lives in cotton country where she is regularly over sprayed by the crop dusters. Anything that kills weeds kills a lot of other things as well. To really clear out a viney/messy/treed area I would be reaching for the brush cutter/ line trimmer, a rake and a three tined hoe. And maybe an assistant... Much respect all, Earl |
