Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Nov 04, 2008 8:06 pm Anybody got some leads on where I can get big landscaping rocks on the Western side of Melbourne (preferably not basalt)...looking for a few that will cover say 1/4 square metre when in position.
Suppliers around Werribee only seem to go up to about 200 mm and then they try to put you onto the concrete look-alike rocks. ....bit like this...dunno how I'll get it off the trailer...cross that hernia when I get there... Great fun to operate and easy to learn how. You will need a good tow bar and preferably not a mini to tow it. Falcon () or Commodore (8)) sized car will be fine. They are doing major earthworks there, and there os more rock than Caroline Springs. Take a Slab or 2.
OK maybe not. Adrian B Re: Large Landscape Rock Supplier...Western Melbourne...Help! 7Nov 12, 2008 3:16 pm Managed to source some nice sandstone blocks they're from a quarry but they are left overs so odd shapes (sizes ranging from 100 kg to enough to squash my trailer) for landscaping for $130 per cubic metre...in Sale, Gippsland...so I'm dragging my trailer on my regular country trips...three "feature" rocks per trip.... ...
I think I'm going to have to plant lots of trees to make my garden carbon neutral.... mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Large Landscape Rock Supplier...Western Melbourne...Help! 8Nov 12, 2008 3:23 pm Can you get me some?
And then store them at your place til I start landscaping? I'm actually not kidding... I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. I'm actually not kidding... Getting them off the trailer is easy...I hope...getting them back on after "storage"... ...I need the bobcat the guy was using and the skill in being able to place....not drop....but place a 200 kg rock (I reckon the big one is at least that) .... so that my trailer barely moved. There's a ready made line in there about blokes and correct utilisation of equipment..... mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Large Landscape Rock Supplier...Western Melbourne...Help! 10Nov 12, 2008 3:48 pm From storage to my house will be my responsibilty.... or you could just dump them at the back of my block to start with!

I am quite serious about this... hence my inability to come up with the appropriate joke. Joles, if you really want some great big rocks, I have some in SE Melbourne (insert more double entendres). I already offered them to Mike but he thought they would be too big, by the sound of his post above I reckon they might have been smaller than he got in the end! (double entedres flowing thick and fast) I have to move them off the block before we start building next year, free to a good home but you will need the means to collect them!!! So if you want to get my rocks off my block then get on your best frock, undo your car lock, and give me a knock! (please don't mock). Re: Large Landscape Rock Supplier...Western Melbourne...Help! 17Nov 17, 2008 7:11 pm Yes, pls JB, show us pic's?

(But Jo, you have first dibs) What sort of rocks are they btw? Nic, go ahead!! Much more your neck of the woods than mine. I won't actually need them for months, they'd just sit on my block. You're already up to landscaping stuff. I'm sure I'll scum some of one of the Mernda/Doreen crew in a few months. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Large Landscape Rock Supplier...Western Melbourne...Help! 19Nov 17, 2008 7:24 pm Thanks Jo, i suppose we need to see what they look like???
