https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=10535 I thought I'd post all the pics in a new thread, rather than clog up the other! This Synthetic turf was from this mob here: http://www.newturf.com.au/lawns.html It has not been installed in my garden, but that of my temporary accom while my house is being built! It is called 'True Lawn'. Comparing it to several other brands, this one is made in Australia, has very fine 'blades of grass' and is tightly packed. The added feature of this particular synthetic, is the inclusion of brown into the green, giving it a more natural appearance. Once they had removed the old dead turf, thay put a layer of gravel down, and compacted it. It wasn't completely flat, but tapered off towards the edges for drainage. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They then measured it all and cut it to size, put it in place and made the joining edges neat. (Sorry for corrupted photo...but you get the idea!) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ They then put down a strip of white plastic or material under the joins, and used a glue to join the two pieces of turf together with the white strip. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Once it was all down, they put some sand into a special dispenser thingy ( ) and rolled it across the lawn. The edges were done by pouring the sand carefully from the packet! A petrol driven brush was then used to sweep it into the pile of the grass. Re: Synthetic Turf Installation...lots of pics!! 6Oct 27, 2008 1:37 pm signuptesting Roughly how much would a size like that cost and how many m2 was it? 'Roughly' mainly because it's not my garden, but it was about $120 sqm fully installed. This area is about 55 sqm. Total cost over $6K. The price per sqm does reduce the more area you have to cover. I know it's quite a lot, but it's a top quality product (manufactured in Australia not China) and is guaranteed for 8 years. No mowing, no fertilisers, and best of all, no wasting water on it. hang on did you say synthetic turf??? that looks awesome... Re: Synthetic Turf Installation...lots of pics!! 11Oct 27, 2008 10:02 pm d@n what was the final cost? I can't tell you the exact amount as I don't know because it's not my grass (It's Mum and Dad's), but it was about $6.5K. My Mum is not completely convinced about it as this particular finished grass is fairly short. She also can't get used to the shine on it with the sun. Personally, I think it looks fabulous, and once it settles down a bit with more foot traffic, leaves, petals and muddy rain, it will look even better! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! I also like how they have put the brown bits in it. We now have a blog. http://allaboutthebuild.blogspot.com/ Re: Synthetic Turf Installation...lots of pics!! 16Oct 28, 2008 11:43 am lilian Off the topic but please could you tell me what are those beautiful pale mauve flowers in the garden? 'Ruffles Collection' Lavender in the 'Blueberry' colour. Apparantly there are several colours available! It's unfortunately past it's peak in flowering, but after a clip it (hopefully) should flower again this summer. Even found some info on the net too!! http://www.pma.com.au/view_plant.asp?plant_id=128 Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! The plants are beautiful and the link gave lots of information - now to find a local stockist! I imagine that they would grow well here in WA being like most lavenders (I hope) fairly drought and neglect tolerant. Re: Synthetic Turf Installation...lots of pics!! 18Oct 29, 2008 5:50 pm Alas Lilian the Lavender ruffles series are becoming few and far between around WA now. Going back a few months ago you'd find one no worries. the two main growers of them here have run out of them. I sure can't get a hold of them from anywhere now! I can get other varieties with some looking but not much out there now. most went through the market in late winter to early spring.
You have to grab the yellow pages and just ring around, try the slower retail nurseries for some left over stocks perhaps? I would very strongly suggest that you don't neglect lavender and in particular the hybridised ruffles series. they will have a short life span other wise. clip them 2-4 times a year and they will be magnificent. Just swear at them the rest of the time though It is near on impossible to import plants into WA without significant expense in some cases. many online plant suppliers won't touch WA with a big stick. especially seed mobs. We have some of the most stringent quarantine laws in the world! things can moved from state to state with relative ease in the rest of Australia. we are very pest and disease free here as a result of strict laws Here's how West Aussies can make sand into soil Checkout The Forever Project Before starting your landscape attend a FREE Great Gardens workshop Re: Synthetic Turf Installation...lots of pics!! 19Oct 29, 2008 6:29 pm Quote: Lavender ruffles You guys talking about my wardrobe again.... mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: Synthetic Turf Installation...lots of pics!! 20Oct 29, 2008 7:31 pm to_do_list Quote: Lavender ruffles You guys talking about my wardrobe again....
