Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Dec 19, 2022 10:57 am Hi, I have around 30 m2 of area to be turfed. This area has some curves. I have some Buffalo coming this week which are 600x1700mm rolls (approx). Consider the area, where the red arrows indicate the slope which is around 5 degrees and away from the house, down to the footpath: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I have ordered 40 m2 of turf. What is the ideal way to lay the turf to work with the curves? Would I go along the long edge, overlap and cut the turf as needed? Or work along the short edge? Re: Installing instant turf with curves 4Dec 19, 2022 1:40 pm personally I would work in a straight line. Makes more sense to me. Though i guess you could work in a curved line, but the last couple of rows would be annoying to trim Dark matter scientist, can breathe underwater, mind reader and can freeze matter just by willing it. Re: Installing instant turf with curves 5Dec 19, 2022 6:27 pm i would use your 45 degree angle bottom right of picture as the end of row and roll upwards to 10 o'clock position align the sides of each strip and keep going best to lay turf in the direction of the slope Re: Installing instant turf with curves 6Dec 19, 2022 6:41 pm aussieta i would use your 45 degree angle bottom right of picture as the end of row and roll upwards to 10 o'clock position align the sides of each strip and keep going best to lay turf in the direction of the slope That's a good idea. With the curves, trying to avoid excessive wastage whilst also avoiding having thin little slivers of turf to fit into tiny gaps is tricky. If I work up from the bottom in a 10 o'clock direction, the only trimming I should need to would be the short edges of the roll. Re: Installing instant turf with curves 7Dec 21, 2022 9:59 am I guess ultimately it doesn't matter what pattern the rolls are laid, so long as the edges butt up against each other and there are no big gaps. Most of the rolls can be laid in the traditional brickwork pattern, but when I get to the corners, that's when some of the angles come into play and some pieces of turf might get cut in some odd shapes.
