Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 27, 2022 10:41 am Hi all, I've recently received a quote for some landscaping, and was shocked at the cost of it all as someone who is totally clueless about landscaping. We have a backyard of about 3m x 11m and just want to remove all the grass as it doesn't get enough sun, so stays wet all the time. The plan is to have some fake timber deck, a pergola, and a garden around the outside. Then out the front, plant some trees and move some stuff around to accomodate this. The quote comes to a total of about $25,000. I just wanted some feedback on whether this is a normal amount for the work quoted? I've attached the quote and tried to remove all identifiable information. Any help would be appreciated! For a 3mx11m area Trex alone would be $7600, Eco deck would be $3500. Not sure about the product you have selected. You need 82m of joists @$16m = another $1320 - it adds up. 5 days for 2 people @600/d = another $6000 Bin hire $300 etc etc He has quoted a high spec (eg 400 instead of 450 joists, paining the stumps, joist tape etc) so if it's built as specified you will get a nice job done. Re: Feedback on Landscape Quote? 3Jun 06, 2022 9:46 am I didn't read the quote, but landscaping is EXPENSIVE. A lot of people don't anticipate/appreciate the cost of the material and labor involved. There is nothing more sobering than costing landscaping as DIY and leaning how much its still going to cost in materials alone. In any case, get three quotes and choose the one that fits your budget and risk appetite. Its not always advisable to go with the cheapest, especially if the cheapest comes from someone who has no examples of work, references or shows up in a poorly organised work vehicle Dark matter scientist, can breathe underwater, mind reader and can freeze matter just by willing it. Trust me, its in my sig. Re: Feedback on Landscape Quote? 4Aug 12, 2022 8:11 am On face value it looks reasonable to me (some random guy on the internet with limited experience). Maybe ask them to further itemise some of the larger items if you're confused about where the cost is coming from. Some things are surprisingly expensive (e.g. laying stepping stones) but if you try to do it yourself then you find out why.
