I have built a raised garden bed around 30 to 60 cm in height. The lowest point is 30 cm in height and the highest point 60 cm.
I have 2 questions:
- The bottom of the garden bed is my yard which is mostly grass and some weeds. I am going to dig out the layer of grass and weeds and throw it out. Do I need to do anything to prevent the grass from growing back? Or can I just put new soil directly on top and start planting? Is 30-60cm of soil enough to prevent grass and weed growing back?
- The garden bed is made of H4 treated pine. Should line all the inner sides [ the sides where soil will be in direct contact with the timber ] of the garden bed with builders plastic to extend the life of the timber?
Thank you.
