Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Sep 06, 2021 7:02 am Hey all Looking for some advice and please forgive the essay Last year we had an unhealthy camphor laurel cut down in the front yard. Today we finally got around (after much stuffing around with it myself) to getting the entire stump and root system dug out My original hope / plan was for the dirt that was excavated to be pushed back into the hole made by the now missing stump, and the rest used to provide a more level yard before putting down new turf The yard has a slight natural raise, so I don't really care about it being mirror flat, I just want something that doesn't undulate like a wave. I figure the "high point" of the yard should be where the new tap and water meter is As you can see from the pics, the yard itself has been left looking like a bomb has gone off. Now I expect the excavation site to settle and drop over time, I'm just looking to speed this up as I'd really like to get turf down before summer Our budget was stretched super tight due to the excavation costs.... leaving me with pretty much what I've already earmarked for underlay, starter fertiliser and new turn. So whatever is done, I need to do myself manually (ie, I can't get someone in with a dingo) Any suggestions? We have other places around the backyard that need filling, so I had planned on just picking up and removing any large clums of clay, stones and smaller roots that have been exposed. Giving it a heavy hit with liquid clay breaker and then digging from the edges towards the center to reduce the current incline. And then using my soil spreader to smooth it at as best I can. Oh and water... lots and lots of water Is that a fools errand? That will help level everything after you treat/ammend the soil. These are cheap to hire. Dark matter scientist, can breathe underwater, mind reader and can freeze matter just by willing it. Trust me, its in my sig. of course there are legal avenues. You've already mentioned it. Sue them. I find it odd that lawyers wouldnt be willing to take on the case, given CCT evidence and… 1 24131 can someone with more experience give me their insight? land is pretty much flat its pretty much at the top of a hill. left and right neighbours are flat in line with my… 0 7528 2 4478 |
