Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Aug 22, 2021 6:24 pm Hi everyone. I have replaced my outdoor lights to up/down lights. I recently received a letter of complaint from my neighbour asking if I could move my lights down as they light up her bathroom and bedroom. Upon inspection I noticed the lights do not directly shine into her room, though they do light up a small portion of the area. I am patiently waiting for my Lilly Pilly's to grow and am looking for ideas of how I can stop light entering my neighbours property. I cannot move the lights as they would leave a large hole in my brickwork and are required for security purposes. I also cannot afford to replace the lights. My question: Am I able erect decorative screens to reduce the light? Do I need permission from my neighbour to do this? The screens would not be attached the fence and would be higher than the dividing fence (1.9m). Please let me know if you have any other ideas! My previous lights lit up too much area. I have removed the updating globe. My neighbour has complained again, saying it's my porch light (which is a downlight). I'm at my wits end and am too impatient to wait for the Lilly Pilly to grow. So I am looking to put up decorative screens to block out the light. Just need to know if I need permission to do this.
