Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 May 08, 2021 10:04 pm Hey everyone, We are having new retaining walls installed in the front yard. There are two tiers seperated by a garden bed facing the street frontage. The lower tier, closest to the street, is going to be a block wall with a veneer stone face. The upper tier will be concrete sleeper to save money and because we're going to hide it with a hedge anyway. My question is what colour should we make this concrete sleeper wall considering the goal is to make it disappear? For example if we choose a dark colour like monument grey or even black will that help to effectively not see the wall while the hedge fills out and thickens up? I think I read somewhere once that if your goal is to hide a wall or fence or whatever with greenery don't have make that wall or whatever a light colour or green. Not sure if I just maybe made that up 🤷♂️😂 Anyway, any help or thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated Michael. When I’ve seen plants growing against Green fences vs dark fences - I much prefer the planting against dark fences. Will you have mulch in the garden bed in front of concrete wall or grass? Hey Gaudi, thanks for the reply! Glad it's not just me who thinks that the darker colours blend with the plants better while the plant is filling out. We're going to go with monument as our roof and gutters are monument so it'll tie into that nicely. Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that.
