Looking for advice / experiences on this. I have a neighbour wanting to put in a new fence and get rid of the old asbestos one which is falling over. Unfortunately there are some level differences between the sides (Looks like the previous owner next door piled sand up against the old fence to level their yard, and this is why it is falling over), and they are proposing putting Allywall sleeper or the colorbond plinths under the fence to retain the level differences, which vary from a couple of inches up to about 500mm.
I am wondering if people have good or bad experience with these, such as:
-Will the colorbond fence fall over as the asbestos eventually did?
-What size footings have you seen used (successfully and unsuccessfully) for the posts, and how will I know if they are big enough for my retaining levels, soil type and fence wind loads.
I am concerned that by making the retaining part of the fence structure, I will inherrit some responsibility for it, which I don't really want as I think the retaining should really be done on their property. So I am keen to know if it is usually successful.
Any help appreciated.
