We recently got some new Eureka Kikuya lawn turf put into our back yard. The reason we got Kikuya is because that's what we have in our front and we were advised it's best to get the same. We had some left-over turf when they put it in the back, so I used some of it to patch up a few areas in the front that were a bit patchy. The problem I have is that the new Kikuya must be a different type. It has thicker blades and has grown a lot quicker than the existing grass at the front. After only a couple of weeks of growth is looks quite odd because the new patches are much taller than the existing.
My question is, will the new patches eventually blend in with the existing grass, or is it recommended to just cut my losses and remove the new patches and let the existing grass grow over in time? I would rather not need to mow my front lawn every week just to stop the new patches from looking too out of place.
