Browse Forums Landscape & Garden Design 1 Jan 20, 2021 4:41 pm Hi, We moved into our place a few months ago. I just noticed these palms planted down the side aren't doing to well anymore. I checked them out and found about half a foot of mulch around their base... way too deep and making them get wet around the base of the plants. So I cleared that back and found they have been planted in their pots. The previous owners just buried the pots in the ground. The plants are incredibly root bound, with roots pouring out over the top of the pots. So I pulled out the pots and planted them in the ground. But then I got concerned that maybe they were in the pots because they are invasive and will damage the house. I can't identify them though. There seems to be two types, some bushy ones and one that looks more like a single tree type of palm. They are quite close to the house. There is a brick wall and a bedroom on the other side of the wall (it's like a raised bed several metres off the ground, next to the side of the house). So if it invades the bricks and breaks them up that is a major problem. Can anyone identify these guys? I'm considering just pulling them up and replanting them down the back where they can't threaten the house. But it's good to have something in there sucking up any excess water that washes down the cliff into the bed. Any help would be hugely appreciated! PS, for some reason the images keep loading rotated? Dunno what's going on there, I don't seem to be able to fix it.
