The builder came out to look at it and the plumbers checked to ensure their stormwater pipes were still connected. They backfilled it again and left. I am still seeing very soft soil around the soakwell. I can stick a 10mm steel rod (approx 1200mm long) into the sand with little effort and it will disappear. My question is, does this sound like an issue with the soakwell itself or is it as simple as hosing down the sand and running a compactor on top prior to paving? We are located in WA and have had some very heavy rainfall over the past few weeks so my assumption was that the heavy rainfall would've taken care of any compaction.
