Might be easier for those with larger areas to cover. If so, what sort of quantities would be needed ? Re: Molasses and how to use it 164Jan 06, 2013 6:12 am Yep, too thick. It doesn't suck through the tube. But this is exactly how I do it: Reuse the Seasol spray packs. Add a bit of molasses, water, seasol, Powerfeed, etc. Mix with water. Shake it for a minute or two. Then spray. Easy! Re: Molasses and how to use it 165Feb 10, 2013 8:12 pm Hi guys, first post so please be gentle. I've just spent the weekend preparing my soil for some turf going in later this week (Although could not find bactivate as per the great thread on soil prep). Anyway, I am looking forward to trying molasses on the lawn and garden in general but I was wondering if it could potentially attract European wasps. We had a nest nearby (inner Melbourne) a couple of years ago and still see the odd one in the garden. So if anyone has experienced this let me know. Cheers Re: Molasses and how to use it 166Feb 10, 2013 8:23 pm Potentially, yes Euro Wasps might be attracted to your garden. However, using it is no more likely to attract them now than as before. Clearly the habitat is already there for them. Remember it is also important that after applying, the molasses is watered into the soil well. The Bactivate can be hard to get because most places people try have never heard of it. Yes it can be done and is explained with pictures (from memory) Re: Molasses and how to use it 169May 24, 2015 12:23 am Fu Manchu...Thank you for this amazing advice. My whole garden will need a huge boost after we build the extension. I have consulted with our builder to shield my plants around the perimeter of our property but I think I will give them all a drink of molasses to keep them happy during the build! So happy I found this thread and your advice! That sucks! Hope it all works out.
