Hi there,
We have a stone retaining wall along the side of our house and we need to build a fence on top of it.
Our building and siting rules stipulate that fence has to be brick piers with wooden slats running through at 80% transparency.
However we did receive permission for stone piers.
My question in is, is it safe to build the brick/stone piers on top of the existing stone wall (we dont know what kind of footing it has) or should we put the piers next to the stone wall?
One fencing guy is suggesting on top while another says there is no way he would build on top of it.
What do you think and how do I find out if it will be safe to place the piers on top of the stone wall?
Thanks in advance.
