Hello!
Hoping someone can help me - we laid turf (Palmetto soft leaf buffalo - we tried to get Sapphie but were told the supplier stopped growing it ) in April this year.
We sprayed clay breaker on the area a few days before, then layed a 100mm layer of lawn mix soil and laid irrigation pipe underneath with sprinklers fitted. From there we followed the directions on the information sheet that came with the turf to the letter, which involved all the watering frequencies and after care, kept the dogs off it for 6 weeks, spreading around whatever stuff they tell you to spread around (food? not sure) twice after installation.
The weeds started appearing soon after installation and I repeatedly pulled them out by hand as I was advised there was no weed and feed suitable for Buffalo. About a month ago I used the newly released Yates weed and feed for Buffalo which seems to have killed a few weeds but not all. I have also used seasol on it before the couple of hot days we have had.
In about June I started calling the landscaper asking her advice for the weeds in the turf and she said some might have blown in or passed via birds from the surrounding area. She came out to have a look in late July and advised to try the new weed and feed but said it was the worst weed infestation she has seen, particularly in roll out turf and that some varieties of weeds weren't local to the surrounding area. I then tried the weed and feed and waited the four weeks on the packet for it to work with poor results. From there I rang the supplier to see if someone can come and look at it and advise. The guy was supposed to come out Monday but didn't show up, and I haven't had a response from the e mail I sent to the grower.
I gave about 18sqm of leftover turf to my father in law in Brunswick to lay in his front yard and from my last visit it looks like he is having the same issues as us.
I have put a few pictures on this album of when it was laid and what it looks like now:

Can anyone help with fixing my grass? I think I counted about 18 different weeds - from the standard big prickly ones to some that look like parsley to winter grass. It did look a bit better after a mow but its obvious there is only a couple of sheets that aren't infested.
Thanks very much!
