Can we use bricks (same ones used in the house) as retaining wall. We're looking at approx 300mm to 400mm high. Do we need to put steel posts inside to support? Or the bricks and mortar would suffice?
Thanks!

I have seen loads and loads of retaining walls done from brick. It was more common to see in the 70's 80's than now days. Oh and an update on the wall in Ocean Reef Kexkez, the render is going on now:) Re: bricks as retaining wall 3May 16, 2009 1:31 pm cool FU. I never did get to see the darn wall in situ. i have a friend that lives near there though so I might have to have a look at the finished product. I think we are gonna go the reconstituted limestone now. and the blocks that fit together for the other side. Re: bricks as retaining wall 4May 19, 2009 9:56 pm Thanks for the input Fu. So I "can" use bricks. Is 1 layer of brickwork enough so hold the soil from eroding? Also do I need to put in steel bars in for support? In terms of cost, which is more cost-effective, bricks or limestone? Thanks again. \/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Re: bricks as retaining wall 5May 19, 2009 10:51 pm considering you don't have limestone within cooee of Melbourne, I'd say bricks. You will need to have brick pilars but I am unsure of the distance between them. Maybe 2m or there abouts. Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that.
