I have to order it in. Re: WA - Coastal brown ants 23Mar 15, 2010 10:29 pm the place that gave me the quote only quoted me on the 450g size i asked if that was the only size and even said to the guy was he sure as I expected it to be over $100. it must be the only size they had on their books. am prob ordering it from a different place here in town instead anyway so will see if they can get the larger size in. another place I went to first ( in Bridgetown) the guy said "don't waste your $ get ... instead half the cost and you just use 10 x the recommended dose and it will kill 'em" all I could think was hmm what else will it kill at 10x the dose. i did note the name but basically he said it was just a stronger version on normal ant killer. he was happily telling me how he had mixed up 5 bucket loads of it in water and used it to get rid of some ants. well that's fine but i want them dead not moved on. I suspect that's what has happened down the road. they've moved on to us.... hunted for the name of the stuff he suggested it's called Lorsban Re: WA - Coastal brown ants 24Mar 16, 2010 12:04 am I can assure you that the contents of Lorsban are not something you want to use. It has been removed from retail sale for many years now. I do stress that even lorsban is not going kill these ants. Councils once used Diazanon which is more effective than the old Lorsban. However due to the risk this stuff posed to the council workers and the damage it contributed to in the environment it was decided to discontinue it's use. A wise move. The stuff that is in Lorsban is still sold in weaker formulations but is being phased out. It is nasty. It is also one of the more common ingredients used in common ant killers that folks try time after time. I, like the Dept Ag, recommend Amdro because it is the only product that is going to work on Fire ants and coastal brown ants. Do two applications. One light application the first day and do it in the morning so the ants gather it all up. Then the next morning do the same. Otherwise what they don't get the day before, they won't pick up at all. Put fresh stuff down though and they'll be onto it like it were bread crumbs Re: WA - Coastal brown ants 25Mar 16, 2010 12:08 am Landmark in Bridgetown should have it. Or were they the folks who told you that stuff? They can order it through David Gray http://www.davidgray.com.au/products/pe ... -bait.html Otherwise call the number or email them and they'll be more helpful (08) 9337 4933 Re: WA - Coastal brown ants 26Mar 16, 2010 8:55 am thanks Fu I'll try them this arvo. it was "rich feeds rural supplies" in Bunbury street" yes I agree I didn't like his suggestion at all. After googling I liked it even less. Re: WA - Coastal brown ants 27Apr 25, 2018 10:42 pm Hi, I bought Amdro from Bunnings. On first day, I was so happy to see the ants take the stuff away, back to their nests. However, when I applied again on second day (using fresh baits from the container), the ants don't seem to be interested at all, they just walked past the bait. What am I doing wrong? Please help!
