Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Mar 11, 2014 11:55 pm Hi everyone, I just joined, as it seems there are a lot of fellow DIYers on here that may be able to help me. We have a sliding shower door, the old 2 section glass panes than use a rope/pulley system so that the second panel moves with the first as you slide it. The problem however is that the rope has seem better days, and has sagged and come loose from the pulleys. Is there any way to easy replace or repair this? I've been searching on google and youtube, but so far have not found anything helpful. It could be I just don't know the proper name for this kind of door. I was thinking of just dismantling the door and replacing the rope with some nylon or cotten cord. Any ideas? Hoping someone can help. Thanks, Plan B "There's always Plan B!" Re: Sliding Shower Door Rope/Pulley System Repair 2Mar 15, 2014 8:00 am You've got it right. Remove the doors from the tracks, replace the cord and put it back together ( easier said than done ). Check the roller wheels while you are at it. I did mine about twenty years ago and while there was a lot of adjusting to get it right , it turned out pretty good. Just make sure when you take it apart you remember the sequence for re-installation. Stewie Re: Sliding Shower Door Rope/Pulley System Repair 3Jun 02, 2014 11:50 am I too have same problem but the cord has fallen apart so I can't workout installation. Problem when tenant doesn't report early enough so any diagram or link to directions would be great. Not having any luck with google or youtube. Did you fix your's Plan B? Did you happen to take a pick of the cord installation? Thanks, Pezole. Re: Sliding Shower Door Rope/Pulley System Repair 4Jun 02, 2014 8:58 pm stegbar used to have a door with the cords, from memory the top of the head used to pull straight up and slide off. made it easy to get to the roller screws and the cord to adjust it, the other ones required you to keep pulling the door out to make an adjustment. Re: Sliding Shower Door Rope/Pulley System Repair 6Dec 06, 2015 7:58 pm Hi - I know this discussion is a bit old now, but my husband is trying to replace the rope on my parents' sliding shower door. The original rope had already been removed, so he couldn't follow how it had been done originally.any help/diagrams would be useful. Thanks! Re: Sliding Shower Door Rope/Pulley System Repair 7May 17, 2020 4:11 pm Hi all! I am new to this forum, and it seems the answers I seek are in this thread! Has anyone managed to work out an easy way to repair this, or how it goes together? Like others who have posted, my shower cord broke and I’m struggling to work out how to re-install it. I must admit, I’m trying to do it without removing the top head of the shower screen as it involves removing and reinstating silicone (and yet another trip to Bunnings). Any help would be greatly appreciated! Re: Sliding Shower Door Rope/Pulley System Repair 8May 31, 2020 12:34 pm [quote="Steph01"]Hi all! Probably easier to see it so send me a message if that doesn't make sense and I'll draw it out.
