I’m thinking total cost around $5-$6k. What you think, budgeting too low or kind of achievable for such scale project? Thanks Re: Convert Porch top into balcony 2Jul 21, 2019 6:08 am What’s the view out there of? Which direction does it face? I’d think it a complete waste of money unless it’s on the North side and the view is of water/parkland/etc. and even then, does anyone even use these tiny balconies because I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone on one? And it’s actually hilarious when you see them on the South or West side of houses in Victoria, and doubly so when they face into the street so your magnificent view is of your neighbours garage and the street. Anyway I think the money would be better spent on your outdoor living area or even an overseas holiday, but yeah you’ll need a permit, and waterproofing will be the top priority along with a drain and connection to stormwater (which should be easy as the current roof would be connected). Good luck. Re: Convert Porch top into balcony 3Jul 21, 2019 3:33 pm Thanks Gillybean for your detailed response. I agree with your points and more like asking for trouble consider putting in wall WC instead of robe in the same bedroom, then it might be doable to hook up to the existing piping. 4 6627 First time building 2 storey home in NSW.
