Also, any hints on remoivng paint from brickwork. The last owners were a bit sloppy with their painting. Removing paintwork isn't hard though. If you have an electric drill, get a couple of rotary wire brushes from bunnings...three or four dollars, put one in the drill and just scrub the paint off. Make sure you wear protective glasses and gloves etc though. Those little bits of wire break off. A plumber mate of mine knew a brickie who came out, repointed where it was needed and replaced a few bricks, and filled up a few holes. Had the whole thing done in a day. It would have taken me a week to do a job half as good.
