Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Re: Water leak through window frame 2Dec 13, 2018 6:31 pm justme15 Who do I contact that can best assist with this? Or is there something I can do myself immediately before the cavalry arrives? First thing is to take the blind down so it doesn’t get damaged, and anything else under the leak that is getting wet. Unless there is a leak from a pipe in the wall above the window, it is likely that the start of the leak is outside. If the area is accessible (balcony or you have a tall ladder), then you could see what might be the problem and seal it out there with flashing or silicon. If that is all gobbledygook to you, you need to call a window installer or small-job builder/handyman to let them determine the cause of the problem. Just don’t leave it, because eventually the leak will cause damage inside the wall. DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Are you doing this with a building permit? Conversion of a non habitable room into a habitable room requires building permit. 3 17323 Thanks for your advice. So far i have not noticed any issues with doors and windows. Builder advised they will organise drainers to inspect 2 weeks ago but no further… 7 18828 This is 100% true. You can not hang anything on steel frames. very frustrating 8 8052 |
