Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Jan 17, 2018 5:19 pm Hi all, I recently changed the water filter for our fridge. All was fine for a couple of weeks and just randomly one of the ends came out of the filter and flooded the house . The water filter is a 1/4" push fitting on either side. Unsure how this occurred as I made sure to push the fitting as far as it could go and it is located in a cabinet which is hard to access so would not have been moved by anything. I've re-cut the pipes and installed again however very reluctant to turn the water back on until there is some sort of safeguard in place. Has anyone has any luck with any good water leak detection devices that could prevent this happening? I've heard mixed reviews. Any ideas on how I can secure the push fitting? Really do not trust it anymore. TIA! Re: Securing Water Filter Push Fitting/Water Leak Detection 2Jan 17, 2018 9:19 pm I'd be looking at stainless steel jubilee clips, or car fuel hose clips.
