In the new home we are building there are 4 bedrooms upstairs, 2 bathrooms and a large rumpus room. We have always thought we would have 4 children and ideally would like them all to have their own rooms as the rooms that are being built are not overly big. What we were thinking is if it would be possible down the track IF we do have a 4th child (atleast 5 years away) would it be possible to put up some plaster walls and a door to close off an area of the games room to make a 5th bedroom and a smaller sitting area? Or is this something that should be done during the build? Any advice would be great Cheers My karma ran over your dogma Re: Closing off a room 3Jul 04, 2008 4:41 pm Thanks Paula
I agree, I know we are definatly going for number 3, I have plenty of time left in me, I'm 24 with 2 kids, I always wanted 4 by the time I was 30 but DH thinks we should wait and see how we feel after number 3 It would actually work out ok, because the upstairs games room has a little alcove that could be turned into a WIR, and the window would be situated on a wall for the future bed 5... We will see though, atleast I know it can be done My karma ran over your dogma Re: Closing off a room 4Jul 04, 2008 5:54 pm Bel,
I just had a quick look at the Cremorne plan. Have you thought about putting doors on the study at this stage? Then maybe, if need be, that could be made into a bedroom later on by adding a wardrobe to the far wall. The oldest usually loves to have a bit of breathing space from little siblings as well. This way you wouldn't lose that big playroom upstairs and it wouldn't be as much mucking around structurally later on. Obviously if a study is a necessity this is no good, but just a thought. Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Also we will be using the study as a study room, so it sort of rules it out, I figure with 3 living areas downstairs the games room upstairs probably won't be that missed, we have opted to close off the formal lounge too and making it a sports room, pool table etc....so there will be 4 living areas for the kids downstairs to utilise...I hope thats enough, plus there will still be a smaller sitting area left over upstairs.... What really irks me is why they make the master bedroom so large....our master bedroom has an area for a couch and sitting area at the end, I'd rather this be general living space and have a smaller bedroom, but oh well.... Thanks for the suggestions though My karma ran over your dogma Re: Closing off a room 6Jul 04, 2008 6:08 pm haywgl What really irks me is why they make the master bedroom so large....our master bedroom has an area for a couch and sitting area at the end, I'd rather this be general living space and have a smaller bedroom, but oh well....
