Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Mar 07, 2016 6:59 am My situation is all data sockets inside the house gone dead. FTA, Foxtel & Phone working fine. At the moment, I have to connect my modem router directly to the box in the garage, which is not ideal. Do you have anyone that you can recommend to fix the connectivity from the garage box to all data sockets in the house? Probably someone from Vaccaro group or Telstra perhaps. Re: Internal data wiring repair - Telstra Velocity 2Mar 07, 2016 9:14 am If you connect your router to the hub in the garage and then try one of the data lines at the other end with a computer or laptop, does it work ? I doubt if all of the data lines have failed at the same time. More likely a problem with the way your hub is distributing the data. A savvy sparky who does data connections etc is all you need. You should ask this question in the Home Theatre section... viewforum.php?f=34 or ask a mod to move this thread there A few sparkies, data guys and knowledgeable techies frequent that part of the forums. Stewie Thanks Stewie .. I'll try to ask this question in the above section as suggested. It got to do with what's in between the box in the garage and the data sockets. most likely you're right .. it's probably the cable that connects the box to somewhere. won't be the box to telstra since i'm using that socket at the moment and it works fine. Re: Internal data wiring repair - Telstra Velocity 4Mar 07, 2016 11:38 am So there is NO connection point inside the house ? That sounds odd. Re: Internal data wiring repair - Telstra Velocity 5Mar 07, 2016 11:41 am Saint Mike So there is NO connection point inside the house ? That sounds odd. There is the connection points/sockets inside the house but there's no connectivity when I jack up my modem router to these sockets. I used to be able to but not anymore. Something is lost between the box and these sockets. Box to Telstra is perfectly fine as I'm connection my modem router straight to the box. Re: Internal data wiring repair - Telstra Velocity 9Mar 08, 2016 7:25 am Saint Mike Telstra I mean It wouldn't be Telstra because box to Telstra is perfect. I am able to connect straight through but not through data sockets in the house, which supposedly powered by the box. So something is missing between the box and data sockets in the house, so it would be Internal and not Telstra. Re: Internal data wiring repair - Telstra Velocity 10Mar 08, 2016 2:44 pm OK ... who installed it ? You should know this. Have their details etc. Surely they can test the lines. Yes, Metricon (Vaccaro Group). Do you know how many years warranty Metricon has on electrical (cabling/wiring) ? Re: Internal data wiring repair - Telstra Velocity 12Mar 08, 2016 2:48 pm No idea. BUT - they would have had someone do the smart wiring - not just any electrician. So they will know. Even if its out of warranty you have to get it checked. Re: Internal data wiring repair - Telstra Velocity 13Mar 08, 2016 2:52 pm Saint Mike Even if its out of warranty you have to get it checked. I'm currently checking with Metricon if it's still covered under warranty. For the mean time, I'm looking for my backup plan. @Saint Mike, you're in Sydney? if so, can you recommend a name? Re: Internal data wiring repair - Telstra Velocity 14Mar 08, 2016 2:55 pm No - Qld. I don't know the time frame you're talking about - but I'd wait for Metricon - it might be free and they should know who did it. Has it ever worked ? Yup, I'll wait for Metricon. Thanks @Saint Mike ! I would be checking the cables via a cheapie cable tester first as it might just be one pair which is loose and you might be able to just unscrew the faceplate and punch those cables using simple tools.
