Deck will sit rough 600mm from the ground seems like a good solution for some of the tighter spaces I have to work with and easier to drill into the ground because of the hard clay.
Most of the decks and house foundations we did were concrete footings and brick piers although these days a lot are small concrete pad and a stirrup or gal post like a Unipier http://www.unipier.com.au/ or a duragal post http://www.google.com.au/url?q=http://w ... kMPpJkgRaA
