Out of desperation I put some silicone sealant around the tread of the tap before i screwed it on... I know this wasn't the best solution but I was desperate. I turned the water on for a minuet then thought this wasn't a good solution. I removed the tap and got out all the silicone sealant, I have run water through all the pipes but I am worried some silicone sealant might have got into the water pipes and contaminated then.... the tap is in the laundry so we do not use it for drinking water... as I said I have run all cold water tapes for a few minuets to try and flush anything out.... Not sure what else to do. Re: leaking tap 2Jan 20, 2016 2:21 pm jamesrww . as I said I have run all cold water tapes for a few minuets to try and flush anything out.... Not sure what else to do. Only a few minuets? Well there is your problem, that's way too short. I'd run it for the length of a full symphony at a minimum.
