Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Dec 07, 2015 2:09 pm I layed out all my PVC Reticulation system with risers to preselected locations for large pots. I then had lumiere limestone [u]poured in around the outdoor areas of my house. Recently a 25mm pvc riser pipe has broken off at ground level!! I removed the large pot to reveal there is no pipe at all protruding upwards of the limestone floor. Now I do not know how to repair this as I cannot fit a collar on it as it is broken off at ground level. Is there any way I can seal it off on the inside of this 25 mm pvc pipe ? Or is the only option is to cut out the limestone around the pipe o as to get enough neck to fit a collar? I do appreciate anyone's thoughts on this issue and thank you in advanced. Re: Damaged 25 MM PVC Retic Pipe 2Dec 07, 2015 8:50 pm Robbity Bob Recently a 25mm pvc riser pipe has broken off at ground level!! Are you referring to PVCu pressure pipe? Instead of sealing it off, why don't you just repair it so that you can continue to use it? 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. If you wanted to seal it off, you can put a 25 x 20 reducing bush into it with a short piece of pipe and a glue on cap - this will protrude above ground level by about 30mm however. I dont believe there is any kind of "slab repair" fitting for pressure pipe so the only other alternative would be to cut out some of the limestone to fix it or cap it off. Hope this helps My build with FHBD viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78344 Re: Damaged 25 MM PVC Retic Pipe 4Dec 07, 2015 9:13 pm Daz_ If you wanted to seal it off, you can put a 25 x 20 reducing bush into it with a short piece of pipe and a glue on cap - this will protrude above ground level by about 30mm however. PVCu pressure pipe reducing bushes fit into PVCu pressure pipe fittings, not PVCu pressure pipe. 3in1 Supadiverta. Rainwater Harvesting Best Practice using syphonic drainage. Re: Damaged 25 MM PVC Retic Pipe 5Dec 07, 2015 9:36 pm Ohhh you're spot on, its been a long monday! haha My build with FHBD viewtopic.php?f=31&t=78344 Re: Damaged 25 MM PVC Retic Pipe 6Dec 08, 2015 2:40 am If you want to repair it rather than cap it, you simply get a short off cut of 25mm pressure pipe say about 45mm - 50mm long, cleanly split it length ways, remove a small section of the pipe and then file the two side until they fit neatly together when squeezed. Once you have it so that it fits tightly inside the pipe, solvent glue the sleeve to itself and to the standing pipe 1/2 way into the standing pipe. You then solvent glue another 25mm PVCu standing pipe over the exposed sleeve as well as solvent welding the two outer pipes together. If the fitting is very tight, it can be best to wait a day after the first insertion. If the sleeve is left exposed for a day, you should clamp the exposed half together to ensure that it doesn't 'spring' instead of solvent welding. It is very important that the two outer pipes come together as a neat fit. It is also beneficial to bevel the sleeve's inside edge at both ends. 3in1 Supadiverta.
