Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Apr 30, 2015 10:41 am Hi Guys, I seem to have a blockage in the in drain whichthe shower and basin drain into.. When I looked down the drain on the bathroom floor, the water level is very high. The water from the shower and basin seem to flow fine without any blockages in these pipes, but when the water reaches the bathroom floor drain, the water level rises slowing and starts overflowing. Any ideas as to where or what could be causing the blockage? Cheers, Robbie Re: Plumbing advice needed 2Apr 30, 2015 10:46 am I assume the toilet and shower/basin water end up in the same place? If so, the toilet flushes and drains fine and there appears to be no blockages when i open up the drain outside the house, so the block must be between where the shower/basin meet and the outside drain. Re: Plumbing advice needed 3Apr 30, 2015 6:09 pm robbie_p can you remove the grate in the floor? typically they screw anti clockwise between 1/8 and 1/4 of a turn then pull out. With that out you may be able to reach down and clean out the bottom of the trap. dont worry your toilet doesnt flow into here. If you cant reach the bottom and have a wet vac you can try sucking the water and whatever it is that blocking the drain. Keep in mind as soon as you suck the water out you have an open line to the sewer. You can also try dragging the hose inside and trying to flush it out, have someone on the tap and make sure they can here you yell if you need it turned of in a hurry. Re: Plumbing advice needed 4Apr 30, 2015 6:30 pm I would try Drano first, chances are it will dissolve whatever is causing blockage without getting your hands dirty.
