Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Feb 24, 2015 3:43 pm We have a doorbell video intercom. When someone presses it, we see who they are from the kitchen. It has stopped working and I need to replace it. So I found a nice one in Bunnings. The thing is, I don't know how to change it over? The current one obviously has a cord from the door, down the hallway to the unit. But how do you replace it? I've emailed the company, hoping that both ends are the same and I can just use the same cord. If not, what do I do? I thought about tying string to one end of the cable and pulling it through, so that I have the string there ready to tie on the new one and pull it back. But I fear losing or breaking it midway…then I'm stuffed. Should I leave it to a professional? Would that be an electrician? It's so hard to get trades to your house for small jobs. I'd appreciate any help. I am the hand one in our home, and I'm not really that handy!!! Re: How do I change my door video intercom? 2Apr 12, 2015 4:56 pm Hi. Most intercoms are 2-wire or 4-wire so you should get away with installing almost any replacement intercom of your choice. Any confusion feel free to share a pic of the cabling and I will be able to tell you for sure. Hi everyone!
