The knob would turn but the latch would not retract. Thankfully my wife could open the door using the door knob on the outside. Trying to fix it.... Door knob type here: http://i.imgur.com/l8EuRH4.jpg I disassembled the door knob: http://i.imgur.com/ASE9x5n.jpg Removed the outer bezel: http://i.imgur.com/v7r3x6r.jpg The middle square bit could rotate freely but the latch does not move at all with it. I did not disassemble it any further as there were no other screws to unscrew lol. Does anyone know what is wrong with the door knob? I'd like to try fixing it before I call in the locksmith who will probably charge me an arm and a leg. Any ideas folks? Cheers, Vet Re: Gainsborough door knob - DIY Fixit - how? 2Dec 30, 2014 11:21 am The outside lever will have to be removed to disassemble the rest. There should be two screws on the other side that are holding the bezel in the photo on. If you don't think you can fix it a new replacement from Bunnings etc will be about $40 to $50 and will reassemble the same way you pulled this one apart. It is not hard to replace like for like and will be cheaper than a locksmith callout. We really need to also see a photo of the inside of the level. I personally think pivot door are over the top, as you said a bit impractical having a small useless section and poor insulation.
