Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Feb 03, 2014 8:32 am I came across this yesterday and thought it may help anyone who is contemplating reviving an old Colorbond roof or touching up some scratches etc. We have had limited success with touch-up spray cans when we have roofed a house and some other knuckleheads like antenna guys have got up there later and scratched the beejeezus out of the sheeting. This is just the official tech bulletin put out by Bluescope Steel and is in no way the definitive guide ( it is actually somewhat limited ). Anyone else out there with hints or tips or a product especially for touching up scratches , post them up here. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q= ... c3mZjdcs2A Stewie Re: Repainting or touching up Colorbond 2Feb 28, 2014 9:46 pm I've had pretty good success on my facia. I like using Hogans Colorbond touch up paint. http://www.hoganswholesale.com.au/touch_up_paint.html So setup by masking tape around the scratch to protect the surrounding paint. Nice quick light coat and let it dry. Nothing out of the norm right? The tip is to reach into your car cleaning products and use a bug and tar spray. Buff out and polish the painted area to blend it into the surrounding paint. You could also use a clay bar. Though stick to car cleaning products. They are excellent at cleaning without causing any damage to paints, plus there are many different products for different problems. Re: Repainting or touching up Colorbond 3Mar 02, 2014 10:39 am Good advice cc. Whenever we used to re-sheet a metal roof as part of a reno or addition I always used to buy a can of touch-up paint as I previously said but I can't remember the brand. In my opinion you dont need to replace or paint the roof other than treat surface rust… 1 5982 Hi all, Our boundary perimeter fences need replacing (3 sides). From everyone's experience, what would you install? Timber lapped and capped OR colorbond? Thank you. 0 610 |
