Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Dec 28, 2013 1:23 pm Hi there, I've got a metal shed and I'm looking to frame the inside of it with pine timber so I can hang tools and whipper snippers etc from it.. the problem is its a gabled roof so no chance of nailing a top plate into the top to secure it... It's a concrete base so it should be sturdy enough or would it be best to have an angled piece of wood that is also anchored into the concrete to offset the weight. Or would a stud wall with only the bottom plate fixed to the concrete work? Thanks! Re: stud wall without the top plate? 3Jan 05, 2014 8:09 pm mynameisjonas depending on the finish you are wanting. i would use timber screws with a water tite groment and screw the pine timber [on the inside] to the wall from the outside, you could use painted screws to make the job look micky mouse. -mick Quote: I Have Done So Much With So Little For So Long, I Can Do Almost Anything With Nothing Now. Only had to line that small area to hang some equipment on, and used cheap structural pine... about 14 m so only end up costing about $40 http://imageshack.com/a/img69/4120/0q5r.jpg http://imageshack.com/a/img197/9822/ecq8.jpg Re: stud wall without the top plate? 5Jun 01, 2014 5:11 pm i would use a top plate, run screws through the wall into the toplate with waterproof grommits and then run a plate around the top of all walls to lock it all together.this will help hold the pop rivot me together shed from falling apart. if you dont tie it all together one wall will have to much load.these sheds really are not designed for this.so brace, brace, brace http://www.bestcordlesstoolsreviews.comall reviews by qualified tradesman This certainly doesn't look good.
