Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Aug 06, 2013 11:42 pm I am about to embark on some renovations and painting and now planning the ceiling. It is quite large and open plan consisting of a games room, family room and kitchen/meals all under the same ceiling span, in the shape of a C. I have been advised to roll at right angles to the joists to help eliminate any waviness in the ceiling, and have also been told to ignore that, and roll at right angles to the window where the main natural light enters even if it means fanning out at corners to change direction. The games room and kitchen/meals rolling at right angles to the joists and right angles to the natural light are the same thing but it is in the middle at the family room they become opposite directions. Does it really matter or are people being pedantic? It's quite a large area and would like to get it right first time. I know about keeping a wet end Re: Painting a ceiling 2Aug 06, 2013 11:54 pm I would say paint at right angles to the window.
