With our system, if there are any issues (eg. backup battery is flat) then the monitoring company contacts us to let us know. Might pay to check with them. On the other hand, if it's a local alarm only, then I suppose you probably should test it every now and then. Your panel should have an option to put the siren on "silent" so you can run a test routine on your IR sensors. It's all about wireless, self install now.
