Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Mar 09, 2013 9:34 am We've almost finished but realise the doors on the built-in in our bedroom (3rd) take up a wider area than we thought. Is there an easy way to convert to sliding doors (floor is slab) ? Any ideas on a cost for conversion to sliding ? Sliding would give us quite an extra bit of room to play with. Cheers ! One possibility, you could take out the doors and frame, get a plasterer in if you have hardball just to patch everything and tidy the walls up (could do that yourself if your in the know), then you could put in a pair of vinyl sliding doors in. You would be looking around a grand approx for that suggestion. Re: Built-ins - Doors - Sliding - Utilisation of Bedroom spa 8Mar 10, 2013 2:59 pm Thats what she had. They put in a new frame and sliding doors and she got rid of the standard ones Re: Built-ins - Doors - Sliding - Utilisation of Bedroom spa 9Mar 11, 2013 6:32 am The doors and tracks are the expensive bit. Not much cheaper than a whole new wardrobe. As others said. Just put tracks and doors. Get one of the built in wardrobe mobs out to quote. But you may need a carpenter to change surrounding timbers where hinges etc are. Difficult without a photo. Yes - I feel it might cost a bit. Re: Built-ins - Doors - Sliding - Utilisation of Bedroom spa 11Mar 11, 2013 7:39 am I'm now thinking of glass mirror doors - within the exisiting frame. They might be a tad smaller but would open to either end and I'd just need to "fill" in the hinge marks. I'd put the frame for the new doors inside the old frame line. we have a standard size and often we have a lot of variety to choose 0 3563 We are looking for sliding doors which are 5 metres tall.
