Browse Forums DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair 1 Jan 09, 2013 1:39 pm Hi all, Thank you for taking the time to look at my topic. When we built our new home we had them install a capped cold water point in the fridge space for when we bought a new fridge with an ice maker. How do I connect the fridge to this capped cold water point? Thanks in advance Re: How do I connect ice maker to capped cold water point? 2Jan 10, 2013 9:14 am Depends whether you want to do it yourself or not... I hooked up our neighbours fridge the other day, it didn't have a cap but. Turn off water at mains. Remove cap. Thread tape on pipe, fit tap fitting. Usually the hose for the fridge will have a large o-ring like a flick mixer has, well the one I did had, so the thread on the tap didn't need thread tape. Fit fridge water hose to tap. Turn mains pressure back on. Turn tap for fridge on an check for leaks. Re: How do I connect ice maker to capped cold water point? 3Apr 01, 2013 10:24 pm I'd put a small cistern tap on the capped water point instead of connecting it directly to the fridge. Re: How do I connect ice maker to capped cold water point? 4Apr 02, 2013 10:33 am Would have to agree. I would put a small gate valve/tap on the connection and connect to that. If something goes astray all you have to do is turn it off at the tap and then fix the problem, not turn off the whole house to solve it.
